Description
This medium size snowflake (around 4 millimeters from tip to tip) is one of my certain favorites. It is solid, very clear and symmetrical. I like how relief transparent surface distorts background behind this snow crystal. Large hexagon in the center includes simple and cute internal pattern.
This is panoramic version of original photo in cinematic proportions 16:9, with more free space at sides of snow crystal. I think, this version looks better on large format prints.
This photo was chosen by Autodesk.com to be a part of "Fake or photo?" challenge version 6.
Next winter i captured similar snow crystal: "Icy jewel", with slightly bigger size and more complex inner pattern.
8 identical RAW photos was averaged to boost signal-to-noise ratio of this image. Background: black wool fabric, natural light from grey cloudy sky, external optics: Helios 44, january 2013, Moscow, Russia.
You can find two other versions of this snowflake - original and on smooth blurred background - in galleries "All snowflakes" and "Dark snowflakes".
Snowflake photos are available as stretched canvas prints, acrylic, metal, wood and framed prints, posters, greeting cards, Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy phone cases, throw pillows, duvet covers, shower curtains, tote bags, t-shirts, beach towels, portable battery chargers, carry-all pouches and coffee mugs. My collection includes over 100 macro photos of real snow crystals and constantly grows. Just click my name (above left) and see all snowflake images.
