Artist's Description
This is pair of very big stellar dendrite snowflakes, fallen together at black wool background. Interesting thing with that couple is that far crystal have almost the same size, shape and structure as near one, and it even sit in wool fibers at same angle!
It seems that both snowflakes fall and grow in close proximity to each other, and similar air conditions and changes in temperature and humidity around them caused crystals to grow with similar shape. If you look closely at far crystal, you'll notice some differences in details of arms.
This is grey variant of photo, without my usual blue toning. Picture is almost monochromatic, but this is real colors of dark gray woolen fabric under cloudy skies of winter. Snowflakes itself is clear transparent ice, and they will take any colors from incoming light and environment around them.
