Large snowflake of fernlike dendrite type with complex, ornate arms, intricate structure and glossy 3D surface. This is version with snow crystal, isolated on black background. Isolation was made with precise hand-drawn mask.
Most fernlike dendrite snowflakes are large enough to be seen in all details with naked eye, especially if you will look at them on contrast background. Usually, snowflakes of this type have small center, and long, complex, massive arms with lots of side branches and thin, transparent icy "petals" and "leaves". These crystals are fragile, and often broke in air, when they collide with their neighbors.
Snowflake was captured on glass with multi-color lighting from angle: this scheme creates smooth color gradient on background and colorful facets of the crystal, making it look glossy and transparent, revealing inner structure and 3D details on surface.
