Description

This is large snowflake: 5 millimeters from tip to tip or even bigger. I like shape of this crystal, with its elegant hexagonal structure, and especially unusual pattern in the center: it reminds coat of arms with shield and spears.

I was lucky with light, when captured this snow crystal, but shooting angle was not optimal.

10 identical RAW photos, taken as fast series, was aligned and averaged to boost SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of this picture. Background: black woolen fabric, diffused light from gray cloudy sky, external optics Helios 44M-5 used as additional magnifier; January 2013, Moscow.
