Stellar and fernlike dendrites are common, big snow crystals with traditional shape and structure. Most snowflakes of this type are large enough to be seen in all details with naked eye, especially if you will look at them on contrast background. Usually, dendrite snowflakes have small center, and long, complex, massive arms with lots of side branches and thin, transparent icy "petals" and "leaves".
