This is medium size snowflake (around 3 millimeters from tip to tip), with beautiful surface and complex structure. I was lucky with lighting of this crystal, so all surface details are clearly visible. This snowflake have good symmetry, except for tips of the arms, and quite unusual center: this ring pattern looks strange, when compared to straight lines on the arms.
This snowflake was captured on glass surface with LED back light, using additional lens Helios 44M-5 as magnifier. 12 RAW shots, taken as fast series, was averaged to boost signal-to-noise ratio and reveal subtle details of picture.
This is post-processed version of real snowflake macro photo: snowflake transferred to uniform black background with corrected contrast and colors.
