Description
This snowflake was quite big - around 4 millimeters from tip to tip; with simple shape, but complex pattern inside, especially at arms. If you look closely at this snow crystal, you may notice that it slightly resembles triangular snowflakes: like these crystals, it have hexagonal symmetry, but with interleaving shorter - longer sides of central hexagon. In this case, however, triangular structure is hardly noticeable.
Also, you can find small and simple plate crystal, attached to bigger one, and this tiny companion also have triangular structure, with three shorter and three longer sides. This is strange and beautiful pair, in my opinion.
8 identical RAW photos was aligned and averaged to boost signal-to-noise ratio of final picture. Background: black woolen fabric, diffused light from cloudy sky, camera Canon Powershot A650is, external optics Helios 44M-5, December 2014, Moscow, Russia.
This is widescreen (16:9) panoramic version, suitable for big wall prints. You'll find standard cropped version of this snowflake in galleries "All snowflakes" and "Dark snowflakes".
Closeup snowflake pictures available for home decor, interior design and gifts as: stretched canvas prints, metal, acrylic, wood and framed prints, posters, greeting cards, phone cases for Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy, tote bags, t-shirts, carry-all pouches, coffee mugs, throw pillows, duvet covers, shower curtains, beach towels and portable battery chargers.
